Mission Statement

The mission of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Congregation is to be a life-giving sign of Christ's love, Justice, and peace in our area of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, through the celebration of the sacraments, especially the Eucharist, community prayer, spiritual reflection, and a commitment of service to God's people.

Our Lady of the Lakes Parish Assessment and Renewal Program

Fr. Tom Sweetser, S.J., met with our co-pastors, our tri-parish staff members and representatives from each of the three parishes to discuss details and a timeline for the Parish Assessment and Renewal (PAR) Program in which our cluster will be participating. The parish representatives have agreed to serve on the PAR Oversight Committee (POC). For several months, there will be a period of information gathering. As part of that process, there will be a survey that is mailed out in early January to random members of our parishes. The survey will also be filled out by staff and any other interested members of our parishes. More information on the survey will be forthcoming.

The purpose of this program is to assess the state of our parishes (individually and as a cluster), to evaluate what is going well and needs to continue, what is not going well and needs to stop and what we need to start doing that we are not already doing. This program will also aid our parishes as we set goals and timelines in a wide variety of areas and services.

I was impressed by the enthusiasm of the staffs and the POC as we met for our initial meetings last week. They are ready and excited about helping our parishes grow and flourish, but they need your help. In the coming months, many of you will be contacted and asked if you would be willing to give a little of your time to this effort. Our hope is that we can get a lot of volunteers to give a little of their time, rather than a few volunteers giving a lot of time.

Every one of us is called by our baptism to be active participants in spreading the Gospel message and bringing Christ’s mission more alive in our world. I ask that each of you join me in prayerful consideration of how you may be able to help in this effort. There will be a wide variety of ways that you can assist the process, including helping with mailing out surveys, filling out surveys, serving on one of five commissions, providing hospitality and meals to Fr. Tom Sweetser and Sr. Peg Bishop during their 17-day stay in April, and attending a town hall meeting that will take place the afternoon of April 18, to name just some of your opportunities for involvement. Please mark your calendars now for the April 18 Town Hall Meeting (time and location to be determined).

We (your parish staffs and lay leaders) promise to keep you informed as this process continues. Meanwhile, please keep the whole process and all three parishes in your prayers.
