What is the maximum class size at Our Lady of the Lakes?  The maximum class sizes at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish School are: 3-year-old preschool, 10; 4-year-old preschool, 16; Kindergarten, 24; Grades 1-6, 25.

 

What is the school’s curriculum?  Reading, Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Art, Music, Computers and Physical Education are taught.  In addition, opportunities exist for forensics, band, choir, athletics and more.

 

What about religion?  Religious instruction happens in a variety of ways.  First, as a Catholic school, traditional Catholic-Christian values are part of each aspect of our school curriculum and activities.  In addition, religion is taught as a subject at every grade level and integrated throughout the curriculum.

 

Do children attend Mass?  Mass is just one aspect of how we celebrate our life experiences as a Catholic community through liturgy and prayer.  Our Lady of the Lakes students participate in:

a.       Daily classroom prayer using a variety of methods;

b.       Classroom or all-school liturgies for special events or the season of the year; and

c.       Weekly Mass on Wednesdays.

 

What about other religious instruction or preparation for receiving the Sacraments?  The Director of Religious Education helps the classroom teachers in providing religious instruction for the Sacraments.  This is in addition to daily religious instruction with the student’s classroom teachers.  Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion are part of classroom instruction in the second grade.

 

What admission policies are followed at Our Lady of the Lakes School?  Our Lady of the Lakes Parish School follows admission policies and guidelines set by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.  The parish and school respect the dignity of the child.  Neither race, nationality nor other forms of discrimination shall prevent a child from being accepted in the school.  In addition, Our Lady of the Lakes has adopted the following steps for enrolling students:

1.       Families who already have children enrolled in the school will have first opportunity and preference.

2.       Enrollment of new families follows these guidelines;

  1. Preference is given to registered Our Lady of the Lakes parishioners according to the date they registered in the Parish.
  2. Among Our Lady of the Lakes Parishioners, preference is given to families living in the geographic boundaries for the Random Lake School districts.
  3. Preference will be given to Catholic vs. non-Catholic families because we are a Catholic Parish School.
  4. Non-parishioners living within the geographic school district boundaries receive preference over those not living in the area.

 

When does registration begin for first-time families?  Registration begins with Our Lady of the Lakes School Open House during Catholic Schools Week.  Catholic Schools Week typically begins the last Sunday in January each year.

 

Is there a waiting list?  When a class is filled, a family may place their name on a waiting list.  Conscientious effort is made to make enrollment in Our Lady of the Lakes Parish School available to all that request it.
