Technology & Music
Technology
The word technology normally brings to mind computers in school, but this is not completely true. Technology also involves the use of video cameras, videotape players, cassette tapes and CD’s, along with computers.
Our Lady of the Lakes has an entire school television and videotape-viewing system to compliment its cable television access. This system enables teachers to view either cable educational programming or videotapes, or a combination of both. Each classroom also has an audiocassette tape player and the school owns a VCR camera that is shared by all classes. It is used to tape special events at school such as Christmas plays, oratorical contests, and other projects done by the children.
Our Lady of the Lakes School is wired for Internet service to each classroom with expansion possibilities. The school is on a Local Area Network (LAN), and each classroom has one full service IBM compatible computer at the teachers’ disposal. The school has a brand new computer lab with IBM compatible computers. Students are taught computer basics in the lab and are able to use computers in the classroom. "Smart Boards" are in use in 2 classrooms.
Music
Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Grade School has an excellent music program. Hand Chimes (recently purchased through kind and generousdeonations) has enhanced our music program and a new hand chime choir in in formation. The music program presents 'concerts' at Christmas time and during a Spring Grandparents celebration.
