Third & Fourth GradeWelcome to the Third and Fourth Grade Page!,
June 1-4
Reading- The students have been doing a great job working on the play. They have memorized their lines and are acting quite dramatically. The final(and only) performance is Friday, June 4 at 2:00 in the gym. I hope you are able to make it.
English- We will be finishing up talking about pronouns and we will continue with adjectives and adverbs. We will be also doing a short writing project.
Science- We will now be discussing technology and how it affects our lives. We will be discussing the good and bad effects of technology.
Social Studies- This week we will be working on a project dealing with many areas that we have talked about regarding Wisconsin. The students will be making a Wisconsin alphabet book. For every letter of the alphabet the student will pick a topic from our Wisconsin studies beginning with that letter of the alphabet. For example, the letter D could stand for Dairy. The student will write a short sentence with the topic and draw an illustration. This book will be worked on in the classroom and sent home to work on only if the student needs extra time.
Religion- Today(Tues.) the class took a religion test dealing with chapter 23. The test was an open book test with a review time period before the test papers were handed out. The next chapter will be dealing with prayer and the different types of prayer. We will be tying the lesson in our text with our Family Life book. The final religion test will be June 8.
Mat-Smaller math groups will be talking about measurement . We will be discussing measuring objects, weighing objects and liquid measurements also. There will be on test on measurement on Weds. We will then touch on fractions. The larger math group continues to work on fractions-adding and subtracting. The test for the larger math group will be Thurs. We will then touch on Geometry and Probability.
This is my last update for the year. I hope your child has learned lots and has had some fun while learning.
