History of our School

Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Grade School has a long and collaborative history. During the 1800’s two southwestern communities in Sheboygan County established Catholic churches, rectories and schools. St. Nicholas Congregation in Dacada dates back to 1848. Their two story school was constructed in 1884 and was closed in 1969. In 1854 a number of Catholic families established St. Mary’s Parish with a church and school near Silver Creek. Its stone church was destroyed by fire in 1895. A new church, rectory and school were then built in the Village of Random Lake.

The current school in Random Lake, built in 1962, operates with grades preschool through 6^th grade. Students from the area attend this school.

Beginning in July of 1998, four area parishes merged to begin Our Lady of the Lakes Congregation. The name of the school was also changed to Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Grade School.

Providing for the Future

The Endowment Trust Fund was established in 1992 by members of St. Mary’s and St. Nicholas parishes, to ensure funds would be available for Catholic education in our rural area for generations to come. All monies placed in this fund, are held in trust, permanently invested, with the income used to support Catholic education. The Endowment will help keep our small school in operation to provide a Catholic education to all who wish to take advantage of it. With Catholic schools God is a part of our everyday life, not only at home, but in our studies and play. Catholic schools encourage us to use the gifts that God has given us to the best of our ability.

You Are The Key

The Endowment Campaign for the school is important because it allows for a choice in elementary education. The school offers excellent academics while instilling Christian values. This education builds a concern for the truth and human needs while establishing values to build a life whether in the community, parish, or family.

Giving to the Endowment Trust Fund provides three immediate benefits. First, it allows a long term opportunity to continue the education that is provided at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Grade School. Second, it provides additional financial support that won’t have to be made up from tuition or church support. Third, it allows the donor to qualify for deductions on both income and in inheritance taxes. In order for the school to continue to provide this Christian education, as well as keeping tuition affordable and insuring long-term financial security, the most viable plan is to establish an Endowment Trust Fund. By giving to the Endowment, you are giving a gift that will keep giving.
